...There are no hidden messages or deep symbolic meanings to ponder.

Could have been a good movie but let down by terrible special effects on the creature itself.

A really great B-film, lit up with a fantastic, sardonic and doubting David Carradine. Michael Moriarty and Richard Roundtree also lend this American violent kaiju film some class, too. Although the special effects have dated, Cohen's typically clever script and suprisingly subtle direction (considering the context) make this a classic that rises above its genre. Highly, highly recommended. Great fun!

I just don't understand why Larry Conen isn't a house-hold name! Well, nevermind that... I do. Anyway, I'm a fan, and he succeeds tremendously in his goal here. Both Carradine and Michael Moriarity and excellent. Often hilarious, and not necessarily in a "bad" way.

Screen legends David Carradine and Richard Roundtree are the cops given the impossible task of taking down a giant serpent who is going to Munchie City and New Yorkers are the buffet. The special effects are truly terrible and it is not as good as I remember it been when I saw it as a kid. Michael Moriaty is a right scumbag as Quinn. Plenty of evidence of Larry Cohen filming without a permit and despite Q looking like it was created by a three year old in arts and crafts class, he still turns out a good flick.
