How many times will people make the same mistake? You do NOT tick off Lee Marvin, or he will kill you, your family, your dog, and he'll burn your dang house down. This time he's working for the Irish mob in Chicago who have a little problem with a skuzzy Gene Hackman and his big, dumb brother who are running a meet packing and sex slavery business deep in the sweaty, corn fed Heartland. This movie was made during the eight days where Sissy Spacek was kind of cute. And it's charged with some frantic music from awesome 70s maestro Lalo Schifrin. It's an ugly and uncomfortable movie. But it's also really cool, and features some serious butt kicking from Marvin. Not quite to the level of Point Blank, but close.

Its hard to remeber now but before films like Cops and Robbertsons and Fletch lives,Director Michael Ritchie made some really interesting film in the 1970s. This film is no exception. When Chicago gangster Lee Marvin (Excellent) is sent to reclaim an unpaid debt from Gene Hackman(suitably sleazy) he is drawn into a world of flophouses women auctioned like cattle and violent locals. Ritchie manages to pack a hell of alot into 86mins including a wonderful opening sequence in a slaughter house,a shoot out at a country fair and a car destroyed by a combine harvester. The film never flags and its one of Ritchies finest along with Smile and An Almost perfect affair. One to be seen

I remember this film. My Brother was in KC when they filmed it and got meet Lee Marvin. Our only brush with greatness.
