The incomparable Dame Judi Dench returns in this moving true story of a woman who loses her only son to adoption. 50 years later, she is accompanied by Martin Sixsmith (played by Steve Coogan) on a journey to find her lost son. Philomena travels to America and back to Ireland to find her son and... ( I wont spoil it for you) Now there really is nothing bad to say about this movie. Philomena comes across as one of the most heartfelt and beautiful movies to be made. Dame Judi acts as if she really is Philomena Lee which will amaze audiences again and again. Coogan's role is also successful as her sidekick anc together, they become a moving, funny and overall magnificent duo. The movie also doesn't overrun, only lasting 98 minutes. However, those 98 minutes are ones that audiences will cherish as they are so beautiful to watch.

This is one of those films where you just don't want to see or anything after for a while - you don't want it to be spoiled by flicking through channels or another film or whatever you usually do after you see a film at home. You just want to keep it rolling until after the credits and stay in the moment. To honour it, or something. What a gem this is. And how unbelievable is the achievement to let some wonderful British humour shine through in the most dramatic of stories. Now, the story is right up my alley from the view of the church once again doing the most horrific of things in god's name, but apart from that, it's a marvel of beautiful filming and just immaculate acting. And I forgot about my little crush on Steve Coogan. He just keep getting better.

Best performance by Judi Dench. A wonderfully written true story about Philomena Lee and Martin Sixsmith played by Steve Coogan who also wrote the screenplay. Oscar gold. Don't miss out.

Beautifully acted. A disturbing but also heart-warming story. Reflects profoundly on the nature of religion and forgiveness.
