Probably one of the most heart breaking films i have come across. Always gentle in respect to Merrick's personal demons and yet at the same time harrowing to think that such a gentle man had to live a life as a spectacle and something to gawk and poke at, whats more harrowing (as mentioned in the film) is knowing that this man was very intelligent and knew everything that went on around him. Definetly not for the faint hearted.

One of the very few films that has moved me. It is such a terribly sad movie, but also has bright spots in it. It really puts your life into perspective and how lucky we are, and that we really can't worry about the little things. This man was one of the kindest people in the world and people still ran away from him, and that killed me. David Lynch is the man, but this is very different from his other films.Fantastic film that I think everyone should see.
