The real life ant photography is great, very eerie and not something you'll see in any other movie. The music is very sparse and well used and I applaud any attempt to make a smart sci-fi/horror film. The main problem is with the human characters, which are one dimensional and sometimes quite goofy. It's an interesting film, but not really a succesful one. It's too bad that Saul Bass didn't go on to direct anything else because, based on this, he really had potential.

Quite watchable sci-fi thriller about suddenly developed swarm intelligence of ants. The subject is interesting and the somewhat slow psychedelic ant scenes were refreshing breath from the old days.

The thinking man's "highly intelligent ants take over the world" movie. This is a strange, almost hypnotic film that is nowhere near as trashy or exploitative as its poster suggests. This is more of a "2001" style hardcore sci-fi flick about how a battle of wits plays out between man and...ant. Silly I know, but this is an interesting film with some outright incredible ant photography.

Visually gorgeous, but ultimately slow and pretentious meditation on the B-movie killer ant genre.

Weird seventies philosophical sci-fi ant movie. Somewhere between Andromeda Strain and 2001. Top notch cinematography and hypnotic pacing.
