Globalization does not have to be inhumane.

On the eve of national elections in the Indian village of Peepli, two poor farmers, Natha and Budhia, face losing their land over an unpaid government loan. Desperate, they seek help from an apathetic local politician, who suggests they commit suicide to benefit from a government program that aids the families of indebted deceased farmers. When a journalist overhears Budhia urge Natha to "do what needs to be done" for the sake of their families, a media frenzy ignites around whether or not Natha will commit suicide. won't be able to give a full review but i would say one of the best movies and path breaking movies of 2010 from India. its truly a gem. loved it.

You can't decide whether to laugh because the events are so absurd or cry because you can imagine them really happening.

A satisfying and searing satire on the plight of poor farmers in India and the lack of sympathy or understanding of them by the rich and the powerful who have their own plans for national progress.
