Pasolini (2014)

We are with Pasolini during the last hours of his life, as he talks with his beloved family and friends, writes, gives a brutally honest interview, shares a meal with Ninetto Davoli, and cruises for the roughest rough trade in his gun-metal gray Alfa Romeo. Over the course of the action, Pasolini's life and his art are constantly refracted and intermingled to the point where they become one.

The decision to base so much of the film on existing text - the interviews, the manuscript, the screenplay - lends a deadening dryness to much of Pasolini.

Ian Gilchrist 19 Nov 2014

A kaleidoscopic look at Italian radical filmmaker Pier Paolo Pasolini fascinates while it demonstrates how much his life cries out for a film worthy of his genius.

Millo T 24 Dec 2015

Good atmosphere and photography, and a good tribute to Pasolini, but I am not sure that anyone who is not a very big fan of the director llikes it.

David Parkinson 10 Sep 2015

Even cineastes with a good working knowledge of Pier Paolo Pasolini's life and works are going to struggle to navigate this capriciously intricate account of his final days in November 1975.

Mark Kermode 12 Sep 2015

The heady cocktail of politics, religion, blowjobs and murder is catnip for Ferrara, although anyone not versed in the controversies of Salò may leave the film none the wiser.
