Palookaville (1996)

Jerry and his two pals, Russ and Syd, are just looking for some easy money to help them break out of their nowhere lives in their nowhere town. Despite a bungled jewelry store heist which exposes their incompetence as criminals, a fateful event (and an old black-and-white film) convinces them that they can pull off an armored-truck robbery. While they are busy plotting their caper, their dysfunctional families spin out of control, all around them.

Palookaville (1995). Alan Taylor and all the actors of this movie have created a true piece of art about American youth in industrial neighborhoods in the US.

A well-done little comedy about bumbling small-time thieves. Though it holds together well, everything is more or less variations on a well trodden theme.

Sorely underrated. Definitely watch this is you've spare time and bump into it; is as funny as it is violent...

Clumsy, dim-witted comedy that manages to mess up on almost every level. It becomes wearisome within the first ten minutes at most, and it only gets worse from there. This movie forces the audience to participate in the bumblings of three despicable characters for 90 minutes. The dialogue scenes are all bizarrely directed, forcing actors to perform actions that are as unconvincing as they are stupid. This isn't funny material; it's downright desperate. Vincent Gallo (the reason I bought it) is great as always, and the same can be said for Frances McDormand. That's about all that can be said for this misfire.

cheesy - tired of folks copying other people's works (wants to be reservoir dog like); tired of the stupid gangsta/mobster talk. ok music, for background music, a i pack my belongings.
