This is one of the most exquisite gems of cinema history. Cocteau's film of the Orpheus myth. Many moments are enchanting such as cryptic messages broadcast from a car radio.

Although the plot isn't original and it's not the first nor the last film to set the orpheus myth in a modern setting it is a great visual achievement from Cocteau, and is one of the best mythic films ever made. Even knowing the story of Orpheus doesn't stop the film from being a stand alone masterpiece.

"It is the privilege of legends to be timeless." Also, of great films. Orpheus seems more interested in Death than in Euridice, but the film is unforgettably beautiful.

This film has incredible cinematography. I enjoyed the surrealists parts where the characters have flash back memories of the past and present. A classic 1950's version.

A darn near perfect film, innovative and compelling and surprisingly quotable. Cocteau was a genius.
