Operation Mincemeat failed to convince in the film format. The story is beautiful and almost unbelievable how they managed this in times of war. However, the film itself is disappointing and almost boring. The entire story focuses on the relationships between the people who set up this operation. It would have been better if we had seen the journey of the false documents. In the end, the side from the Germans is hardly exposed. A missed opportunity as they also made strategic choices based on the operation. All in all, a good but uneventful film.

Was it a coincidence that the screenwriter had Ewan profess to Jean his feelings for her were the "opposite" of the indifference she perceived? "Opposite" was the exact word that Elizabeth Bennet said to Mr. Darcy when he asked her if her prior hostile feelings for him were unchanged as they walked along that lane. Overall, I thought this was a smart, dramatic, well- acted film. Nice to see a film made for adults these days. Great interiors and period mis-en-scene.
