Andre and Colette Bertier are happily married. When Colette introduces her husband to her flirtatious best friend, Mitzi, he does his best to resist her advances. But she is persistent, and very cute, and he succumbs. Mitzi's husband wants to divorce her, and has been having her tailed. Andre gets caught, and must confess to his wife. But Colette has had problems resisting the attentions of another man herself, and they forgive each other.

Chevalier's charm is pretty much all that gets the viewer through the wafer-thin plot. The songs aren't very good either.

Effortlessly crafted, this film really highlights what became referred to as "The Lubitsch Touch" - a nudge nudge, wink wink approach to sex in early films. Maurice Chevalier is masterful in making what would be a very unsympathetic adulterer a truly compelling and likeable character. This is a genuinely funny film, from start to finish, and a very interesting look at the early experiments in the musical genre of film. What is also interesting is Lubitsch's use of breaking the fourth wall in order to dance around the unspeakable topic of sex. Amazingly, only a few years after the release of this film, it was banned under the Hayes Code until the 1960s.

This movie is a lot of fun for an old romantic comedy. The story is simple, and the ending is predictable, but the actors are good and the movie is really funny. I loved how they did the rhyming sing-song dialogue from time to time, and Chevalier's funny little interludes where he breaks the 4th wall. He's really a very charming and funny guy, this was the first movie I've seen him in. Anyway, I liked this movie it was really good.

I seriously don't know I could have lived and seen so many comedies without seeing this one, or any Ernst Lubitsch movies for that matter. A rather modern laugh-a-minute farce from the 30's, "One Hour With You" plays along so well and is so well-acted it easily ranks with some of the best comedies of recent decades.
