On the Road (2012)

Sal Paradise is a young writer whose life is shaken and ultimately redefined by the arrival of Dean Moriarty, a free-spirited, fearless, fast talking Westerner and his girl, Marylou. Traveling cross-country, Sal and Dean venture out on a personal quest for freedom from the conformity and conservatism engulfing them in search of the unknown, themselves, and the pursuit of "it" -- the pure essence of experience.

While this is nowhere near as masterful as Jack Kerouc's novel, this was still a good enough adaptation for me to enjoy. And Garrett Hedlund deserves an oscar nomination for his terrific performance, he was the perfect Dean Moriarty.

Achei o filme prazeroso de se ver tive uma sensação de liberdade a mesma que senti no filme "Na natureza selvagem", enfim o filme que tem uma linda fotografia, e se quiser gostar dele é só se deixar levar.

One of my favourite novels which is probably unfilmable but Walter Salles does a pretty good job in capturing the conflict between unfettered hedonism versus domestic responsibility. The travels and adventures of Sal Paradise (Kerouac) and his friend Dean Moriarty as they criss- cross America in search of the experiences life has to offer. Riley and Hedlund have great chemistry together and Kirsten Dunst excels in her small but significant role. Slow burning but makes me want to read the book again

Intense, profound, debauched, and self-destructive... no way I could absorb everything in this film in one viewing. Highly recommended!
