This is a great reference considering that the playwright, David Mamet, also wrote the screenplay for the movie two years after his play, and directed the movie. Furthermore, the original John is played by the same actor, William H. Macy. I was really impressed. A must see!

In an admirable attempt to challenge those whose attitudes are based solely on self-righteous gender positions and portray how political correctness pushes human nature into catch-22's, Mamet still succumbs not for the first time to his staged and stilted writing and direction of his actors. I'm torn as to whether or not Debra Eisenstadt's throaty monotone is dry or just realistically insecure. All I know is that it makes her bafflingly irrational and infuriating character intensely annoying. But ultimately, the movie's point is well taken.

Saw most of it. It was pretty painful. I had seen the stage play previously and enjoyed that much more. Mamet doesn't always work on screen and this is a prime example. What seems like energetic dialogue on stage seems silly and forced on screen.
