A very interesting look at the lives of women in a country that seems to us in the "western' world centuries behind, in some respects, in women's rights

Fantastic use of humor to address a serious subject of the denial of women's rights. Jafar is a brilliant director...not to mention the bravery it took to complete this film with all the existing restrictions. The actors are truly pure and captivating, which is rare these days. Farsi is a beautiful sounding language. If you like futbol, you'll love this film. The street scenes really took me there, and the natural footage of celebratory civilians was great! I would like to see more Iranian films like this in the future.

If you watch on DVD be sure to see the interview with Director Jahar Panahi, as he explains the way the film was shot, why he uses unprofessional actors, etc. The movie is actually partially a documentary. A very admirable and successful feat.

very disturbing film about the way women are treated in Iran. Very intelligent script highlights the hypocrisy and failure of Iranian society.
