It’s a good story, well told, though you have to forgive Hood for indulging in a little journalistic cliché.

While Rhys Ifans chews scenery as a scruff-faced foreign correspondent, Knightley plays it taut and believable, and, as we know, nobody walks on cobblestones better than she. The end result is a professionally made film that is whistle-blowingly relevant, starring an excellent actress who successfully comes in from her Pride & Prejudice past.

A somewhat rote but nevertheless compelling biopic telling the story of British whistleblower Katharine Gun and how she exposed government efforts to strong-arm United Nations Security Council members into sanctioning the 2003 Iraq War based on faulty intelligence, only to subsequently face prosecution (not to mention harassment) under the UK's Official Secrets Act. It's a story not well known outside the UK and one with a message that we should all take to heart. Keira Knightley delivers a knock-out performance as the unlikely and unwitting heroine, backed by a superb supporting cast and the fine direction of filmmaker Gavin Hood. Like the story it's based on, this film hasn't received much attention, but it's definitely a worthwhile view.

Hood (Eye in the Sky), his co-screenwriters Sara and Gregory Bernstein and a seasoned ensemble of Brit stage and screen pros deliver a straightforward, solidly old-fashioned slice of real-life espionage, journalistic and legal intrigue that gets the job done in engrossing, clear-eyed fashion even if it lacks much in the way of stylistic verve.

This is a great movie about a whistleblower.Ms.Gun tries to prevent war.If you are interested in international politics, you will like it Her efforts might be in vain. But people could see a dark side of politics. Today, there was still no peace in the Middle East. Hope we have peace there.
