bette davis shines as her character blossems

I read an interview with Bette Davis. She kept referring to this film and it was one of her favorites. I saw it for that reason but I didn't think I would like it. Well, I did like it very much. It really is a very powerful film.

How can Charlotte be so self-sacrificing? I love the scene when she's with the fiance she ends up throwing over and says she wants him to take her to a club and be scandalous with her and she freaks him out. She deserved more than being a permanent nanny to a wishy-washy (although romantic) Paul Henreid.

When Jerry lights 2 cigarettes in his mouth and passes her one I go weak at the knees. One of the best films EVER made!
