Two private bankers, Alistair and Jamie, who have the world at their feet get their kicks from playing a 12 hour game of hunt, hide and seek with people from the margins of society. Their next target is Sean Macdonald a parentless teenager who lives with his sister on a housing estate on the outskirts of Edinburgh. She's in debt, he's going nowhere fast. Sean agrees to play for cash.

A thrilling low budget film. The plot is lost at times but the end result is pretty decent! I really enjoyed this film of cat and mouse! Dougray Scott plays psycopath well!! June 28, 2010

A satire on The Apprentice, I think, whereby a bullying fat cat offers some numbskull a well paid job if he can demonstrate that he gets his jollies by hunting down street kids and giving them a good kicking. Dougray Scott is magnificently psychopathic in the Alan Sugar role. The Apprentice got fired with a bullet through the head, something which would spice up the telly show no end.

So depressing, life-sapping and unrelentingly nihilistic, words have yet to be invented to convey the sheer awfulness of this so-called thriller. A contender for worst film of 2009.

Dougray scott plays the psychopatic CEO from 'Ethical Finances'. He likes to fill his evenings chasing and killing people for fun in a bleak edinburgh. When he locks onto his new target, a youngster with fast legs and a working brain, things take a turn. Energetic, well directed, some really good music by Turbonegro, and a suberb bad banker driving a Maserati. See it.

I commented in my review of trainspotting that Scotland (and the UK) seems to be totally behind that movie even though in my opinion it is crap, well New Town Killers is a Scottish movie that should replace trainspotting in there hearts. It is a conventional murder based thriller but with a difference, the villains of the peace want you to play a game. In reference to the characters I think Dougary Scott was essentially born to be a gangster and provided surprising depth to a shallow character and as the only 'Known' in the he certainly didn't let the side down with his performance. James Person certainly has a future in my opinion and really generated strong empathy from the audience and it has to be said that I felt myself willing him on. In summary this movie is an above average thriller with distinct charm, it is gritty and entertains throughout and I would certainly recommend.
