Nenette and Boni (1997)

Teenage siblings Nenette and Boni were raised apart as a result of their parents' divorce. Their mother, who doted on her son Boni, has died. He works for an interesting couple as a pizza baker, and is surprised and enraged when his younger sister, having run away from boarding school, suddenly turns up. There's a problem that they must confront.

Denis inszeniert so leichtfÃ 1/4Ãig wie selten, und verbirgt im Kern dieses luftigen, farbenfrohen Films ein gewaltsames inzestuÃ¶ses Drama - ohne es auch nur mit einem Wort konkret werden zu lassen und so an die OberflÃ¤che der ErzÃ¤hlung zu holen. Zwar ist NÃNETTE ET BONI gleichwohl ein Ã 1/4berraschend geradliniger Film - im Rahmen von Denis' Werk -, aber die wunderbar unkonzentrierte, schweifende ErzÃ¤hlung lÃ¤sst in keinem Moment Zweifel daran, dass es noch unzÃ¤hlige andere Geschichten gÃ¤be, die ebenso gut erzÃ¤hlt werden kÃ¶nnten.

slow mesmerizing storytelling by Claire Denis. hidden sensuality. a soundtrack by the Tindersticks. Vincent Gallo and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi as supporting cast. one of the first movies i taped on VHS. the main actors already played siblings in Denis' segment 'US Go Home' two years before. Loved that one as well ..
