Nate and Hayes (1983)

Nathaniel Williamsen is taken to an island mission with his fiancee Sophie. Their ship, the Rona, is captained by the roguish Bully Hayes, who also takes a liking to Sophie. When Sophie is kidnapped by slave trader Ben Pease "Nate" teams with Hayes in order to find her.

A mess, and more to be studied as the sort of thing to avoid than respected as a forgotten gem that needs a new audience. But boy is it ever hard to turn away.

Tommy Lee Jones as a pirate! Second only to Johnny Depp as a pirate. It's like Indiana Jones meets Pirates of the Caribbean.

Wow! What a pirate movie, so much better than those modern Johnny Depp sci-fi Pirate ones! Tommy Lee Jones is one charming debonair pirate at the turn of the last century, with great villains and gadgets. Too many funny lines and action sequences in this one, even the romantic subplot was hilarious too!

Tommy Lee Jones is a pirate. 'Nuff said. I wish he'd show up in a Pirates of the Caribbean installment and go head-to-head with Depp. That would rule! This movie rocks. O'Keefe was great in here, too. It was fun watching his character evolve. He was cool in Caddyshack, but I liked him in here better.
