It's a very wonderful "love" story between two people, and you also get to see that there were personal problems with Marilyn when she wasn't making the movies. I think that they really did love each other, but I think that they both knew that who she was, was way bigger than anything that they could handle. I think that she just wanted someone outside of her group to hear what she had to say more than anything.

I love how Kenneth Branaugh gets to play Olivier here after being compared to Olivier for his entire career. We actually get a nice method acting vs. classical acting debate going on as a subtext to this film and there are some nice inside jokes. Michelle Williams tries her best but she doesn't have the look to make us believe that that there is something unearthly about Marilyn.
