This hilarious movie has undertones of parodying Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps - which also starred Madeleine Carroll. You will not be disappointed - Hope puts on an excellent performance.

I like it. One of his lesser known films, but a fun one with slapstick and Hope humor.

CERTAINLY ONE OF BOB HOPE'S VERY BEST FILMS. HE IS MATCHED BY HIS UNLIKELY CO-STAR MADELEINE CARROLL. FUN STORY, GREAT ONE LINERS ABOUND. SUPERB COMEDY.

Bosley Crowther 13 May 1984

Bob is the hub of the picture, and Director Sidney Lanfield has kept the confusion spinning around him. That is entirely gratifying, for, in these times, we can't have too much Hope.

Hard-to-follow action and a silly, inconsistent tone work against the film, but Hope's reluctant can-do attitude and wry comments keep the energy level up.
