It's a square genre picture that's just unassuming enough to be moderately diverting.

Roger Ebert 28 Mar 2012

Musical Chairs is a feel-good romantic fantasy that is likely to inspire a hollow laugh among some people in wheelchairs. Either it knows little about the realities of disability, or it knows too much.

Andrew Barker 21 Mar 2012

This would-be inspirational picture has its heart in the right place, but with default-setting characters, loudly telegraphed emotional beats and lack of any real sizzle to enliven its maudlin moralizing, it all feels like a cursory run through a well-trodden routine.

Felix Vasquez Jr. 21 Mar 2014

While Susan Seidelman's musical drama is contrived and formulaic, it gets a free pass mainly for being such a charming romance that at least tries to break its predictability.

I saw the movie and it is excellent. So heartwarming and it gives insight to a whole new world of ballroom dancing for people with disabilities. I loved it.
