Excellent acting, beautiful photography, great directing and acting by Branaugh. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Just saw it for the second time! I don't agree with the majority of the reviewers. It was beautifully shot and kept the the bones of the classic story. The cinematic elements lent themselves to the story and built the suspense masterfully. This genere is not for everyone,and quite frankly if you don't like it, you might not be "nerdy" enough for this movie. But for all of us PBS loving , classics reading movie goers, this is a movie that you will enjoy and cherish.

Visually stunning and wonderfully cast. The film clearly wasn't meant to follow the original as closely as Periot would perhaps have preferred but somehow the story remains true.

i'VE SEEN A FEW REVIEWS THAT SAY BRANAGH OVERPLAYED THE ICONIC CHARACTER. i HAVE TO DISAGREE. I THOUGHT HE PLAYED HIM SKILLFULLY. I'M ALSO THANKFUL THAT JOHNNY DEPP PLAYED THE BAD GUY PERFECTLY AS WELL. I WAS DRAWN IN, EASILY. I'M A FAN OF THE 1974 VERSION, AND i THINK THE 2017 MODEL IS A GREAT ODE TO THE FIRST, AS WELL AS A MUCH NEEDED UPDATE FOR MODERN AUDIENCES.
