You would think a movie about a middle-age, pill popping, depressed woman killing her cold, cheating diet-book author lover would be great in all its quirkiness. Wrong. Boring.

Despite the performances of two great actors, the story line is quite boring. Was there really a need to make a film just because he was a Bestseller of a diet book?

Really excellent cinematography, i thought. Excellent performances by all the actors- i thought this film was really great and i wondered why i had never heard of it before.

Glossy and satiric telling of the Jean Harris-Herbert Tarnower affair, and his subsequent murder(?) at her hands. Bening's Jean starts out as a beguiling divorcee entranced by the charismatic Scarsdale diet doctor (played brilliantly by Ben Kingsley). Eventually, his eye wanders to younger women, and her grip on reality wanders as well. Film's climax shows different perspectives of what might have happened that night at his home when he is fatally wounded - even now, it's hard to tell the facts from the emotional fiction. Cloris Leachman has a juicy turn as the doctor's skeptical sister.
