Bill Paxton is the weird kid working with his pa at the mortuary while a young woman looks into the odd death of her father, which leads into all kinds of weird shit. Watchable horror flick, but was more one of those things that I had always been curious about than a 'lost' classic or some thing of that nature. Rental.

Solid horror offering from the disco era involves strange happenings at the local mortuary. Greg must not have been too popular as no one put much effort into locating him and his friends just seemed to move on after he disappeared. I never understood the purpose of the mortician's seances with local housewives.

Creepy early Bill Paxton role. Does almost as much for necro-love as a full season of CSI. (Seriously, only beautiful people die in LV?) Notable also for Walton's family member Mary McDonough's nude scenes. Otherwise, not as far out as an Italian thriller, but for 80's US could count as slightly pushing the envelope.

Mortuary is a forgotten but fun slasher film that features a very young Bill Paxton and Christopher George, who is probably most famous for starring in Lucio Fulci's The City of the Living Dead (aka The Gates of Hell). As cheesy as possible and a little boring at times, Mortuary still delivers plenty of laughs, brutal deaths, and a silly yet creepy killer. Not a great film by any stretch of the term but one that will probably delight slasher fans if they can find a copy of it.

When I popped in Mortuary, I was only expecting a hopefully entertaining 80's genre movie. Pretty soon, I found myself engrossed by the story and characters on display. Some of the thoughts that crossed my mind were: Who really killed the lead's father? What's up with her aloof mom? Is that Bill Paxton? Wow, Christopher George is awesome! Hot damn, that killer is TERRIFYING! Mortuary is a spooky soap opera on acid. The performances are solid and the killer's disguise is genuinely creepy. There's a few good scares, a few twists, and a really cool ending. The music score is also pretty moody and memorable. It's a must for 80's slasher fans and fans of Christopher and Linda Gay George as well as Bill Paxton who gives a pretty good early performance. It's worth checking out!
