What makes Monkey Shines special--beyond Romero's cinematic lucidity and sheer storytelling ability and the talent of his cast and crew--is the ambivalent responses aroused by monkey Boo as Ella.

I remember very little about this movie as I probably seen it in 1989. All I know is that there is a monkey in it and he does something bad because he is an evil monkey.

Surprisingly good for a movie about an evil helper monkey. The depiction of a quadraplegic is pretty depressing. You get a real feel for the idea that he's basically had this entire life turned around and needs to relearn everything.

This movie makes me piss my pants laughing, just read the synopsis. It's fabulous. No one will watch it with me...I watch it alone atleast once a year.
