Messengers 2: The Scarecrow (2009)

The family man farmer John Rollins is stressed with his financial situation: the crows and the lack of irrigation are destroying his crop of corn; the bank is near closure of his mortgage; he does not have credit to fix the water pump or to buy seeds; and his marriage is in crisis and his wife Mary is giving too much attention to her friend Tommy. When John accidentally discovers a hidden compartment in the barn, he finds a creepy scarecrow but his son Michael makes him promise to destroy it. However, his neighbor Jude Weatherby visits him, gives a six-pack of beer to the abstemious John and convinces him to put the scarecrow in the cornfield. Out of the blue, the life of John changes: the crows die; the pump works again irrigating the land; and the banker responsible for the closure has an accident and dies. However, he feels that his land is possessed by something evil that is threatening his beloved family.

Jump Factor 3/5, Acting 2/5, plot 3/5. Overall this was a pretty good horror flick as far as B-Budget horror flicks go. Not a lot of gore, more like those old 1980's scary movies. This would be a good movie to rent on pay-per-view if you are home alone and up late. I liked it, but not really at that loved it level. This is not like Children of the Corn, Friday the 13th, or anything at that level, but much better than "I Spit on Your Grave" (though that is one of those classics that I deeply appreciate).

Ok so its a prequel. well the film could have told me this when it started as I had no idea. I thought, wtf has a scarecrow got to do with the first Messengers, which was actually quite a creepy film. Maybe It wouldnt have been so bad if I hadnt of found the scarecrow qute amusing to watch. still dosent explain why it was buried in the barn..and the little girl at the end...who was she? why didnt they explain that? Do I care now? No.
