This is pure comedy! It has a great duo: Sophia and Marcello. It has a moving storyline that's brought together by drama and comedy. Every second of this movie is pure heaven!

Nothing wrong with the acting, the directing, the story or anything else. But special? No. And special is what you expect of Loren, Mastroianni and DeSica. Too bad, but nevertheless a small let-down.

Even as an unfeeling prick, Marcello is magnifying! No words can describe Sophia's portrayal of a the strength of love.

Mastroianni is a dead-ringer for Rhett Butler. This comedic italian classic captures much of the essence of european filmmaking of the time, and can be quite entertaining if you can get past being terrified of the loud venomous spats emanating from the (justifiably) vicious viper loren. i had to close my ears after 2 minutes (like many-an-italian-bloke, i bet). :) the youngest boy steals the show though.

Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni are wonderful together in "Marriage Italian Style" even when there's nothing but hate between them. Watching them interact with one another is almost reason enough to recommend "Marriage Italian Style," but there's more to it than just these two performers. The script is clever in how it continues to throw these two characters in and out of love with one another and in order for it to work it requires focused, cohesive direction, which Vittorio De Sica is willingly able to provide.
