Shin'ya Tsukamoto stars as a camera man who witnesses a man's suicide in the subway tunnels and becomes driven to find out what drove him to it. He finds tunnels under the subway station that lead to an ancient city, where he finds a young naked woman chained to a wall. He takes her home with him, but cannot get her to speak or eat. He discovers that her only diet is blood, and soon he's killing women and bringing their blood home for her. Nothing at all is what it seems to be in this film. It was shot in 8 days on digital video between Shimizu's direction of "Ju-On: The Grudge" and it's American remake. I like it ... everything has a sense of terrible foreboding.

Very strange. I am still not 100% sure about the ending. It's just too f***ing weird. I liked it though. Creepy.

I did enjoy this film. I do admit that it had many confusing parts. But when you get the story as a whole, you start to respect it more. Plus it takes away from the stereotypical vampire type and puts a different view on it. The movie was a mix of suspense with a couple small creepy scenes having to do with some ghosts. But for the most part it is about Shinya Tsukamoto's character taking care of Tomomi Miyashita's character. She really did play an interesting vampire type. Now it could be that she was not a vampire. But they kind of show clues to get you to that notion. Like I said, there was a couple small things I didn't like. Parts did tend to jump around and be confusing and the viewing of Deros. They were more cheesy looking than scary. But I did enjoy watching this film and it really did keep my attention.

Stylish, but incomprehensible psychological horror from the director of The Grudge, with a wonderfully impassive central performance . A digital spin on the vampire tale that provides food for thought but may leave some viewers hungry.

I thought F was so freaking cute in this movie. I'm a bit skeptical of Shimuzu's work, but Marebito I thought is his best. You slowly see the main character going insane, and the narrative is very insightful. Also, that little door in the subway system that leads to the underground was damn creepy.
