Drama about a working class British family in the eighties. Mike Leigh's film is driven by a great clever screenplay that feels so true in its portrayal of the everyday drama, which is sometimes nothing short of tragedy, in a realist way that is sometimes amusing in the simplest ways. The screenplay also inspires some wonrderul performances by its cast.

I love this movie so much that if it was a girl I'd seduce it. Or be seduced by it, whichever. You get the point. It's a domestic drama that starts small and insignificant and gradually becomes heartbreaking, powerful, and true.

My first Leigh movie, I thought wow a film made for people just like me. People who speak the same, live in surroundings familiar to me and who have the same ideas as me. Beyond that I found Jim Broadbent absolutely hilarious.

this is mint, the whole cast are ace in this one, jane horrocks is a proper scumbag, david thewlis is brilliant as her boyfriend and tim spall just takes the show when hes pissed in his failed resteraunt venture, classic british movie 1990 stylee reminds of growing up
