Just north of London live Wendy, Andy, and their twenty-something twins, Natalie and Nicola. Just a normal film, about normal people, going through normal things, although Timothy Spall's character and story are far from it! Good performances from all of the cast, and Timothy Spall has some very funny moments!

This is absolutely Mike Leigh's signature film of bleak British life along divisive class lines. A classic tale of class and eating disorders. Not convinced? Jane Horrocks best performance.

Absolutely cracking Leigh classic. Very good mix of humour and pain! 80s suburban classic is all I can say!

Some people think this and other films by Leigh are degrading to the British working class. I say bollocks. I think he has a great affection for the working class, but is not afraid to lampoon or critique its foibles.

started off as a sort of sweet family comedy, but as time wore on i just became disturbed...maybe its just cause timothy spall and david thewlis are maurauders in my mind!!
