In a small Minnesota town, the annual beauty pageant is being covered by a TV crew. Former winner Gladys Leeman wants to make sure her daughter follows in her footsteps; explosions, falling lights, and trailer fires prove that. Absolutely hilarious!! A completely batty take on American life. Top scene - mom's hand welded to the beer can - I kinda got deja vue from that bit!!!!!!

Simply put, one of the greatest black comedies ever made. Note these words: "black" and "comedy". Not the same as "comedy". Only people with a GENUINE sense of humour get black humour: clearly, your average "critic" is too busy gazing up their own anus to know clever parody when they see it (these people also crucified 8MM, so they don't get quality "seriousness", either). Hmmmph...philistines.

This movie is my favorite of all time! I am so in love with mocumentaries, and this is the Holy Grail of mocumentary movies. With an amazing cast, from my personal favorite Allison Janney to Kirstie Alley to even Brittany Murphy, this movie is filled with stars. While some dont understand all the humor of it, it takes a few tries for you to just love it. Trust me, while I loved it the first time I saw it, I can understand how some may not like it right away. It is like they say a very dark show. But one that doesnt ever make me stop laughing. Any chance you have to buy this and watch it, do so, you wont be disappointed.

One of my all time favorite guilty pleasures. I must have seen this film 25 times so far. Allison Janey plays a supporting character in this film that has me rolling on the floor every time I see her. Ellen Barkin is fantastic with her hand melted into a beer can, and Kirstie Alley is ridiculous as the rich conservative mom bent on reliving her youth through her daughter. And Britney Murphy is still playing dark haired crazy girl roles.
