Don't know why it wasn't taken well at home but the movie is simply worth to see some beautiful dirt.

It is a good movie to showcase the problem in Russia, from family, teenager, social, politic, police, religious, law and justice system. The movie is well executed. I think the movie is worth watching. I am quite surprised that the Russia government allows this movie to be released.

A scathing and sorrowful critique of an ailing society

Somehow this movie is emblematic of my perception of Russia. Richly intelligent people, brutally harsh landscape & a system of government that scares the wits out of you even from a distance. The cinematography is wonderful, the acting sublime but the mood is dark and far from uplifting. I always feel a great movie should take you on a journey.This movie has done that.Nonetheless this is a sterling piece of film making with strong performances throughout. I was expecting it to be a bit more lighter at times (considering Vodka necking permeates the lifestyles) but was drawn in and sucker punched with a much more bleaker drama. Telling a story of people trapped by the corrupt state, it was quite sad to be honest, with an inclusion of colorful characters and far from the norm of film making. Reminded me of some of the great western dramas set in normal peoples lives.Highly recommended.

Excellent movie. Not an American movie made about life in northern Russia but a Russian movie daring to show life in northern Russia. Quite a story, beautiful scenery.
