I can't understand why this film is not liked it is full of a lot of laughs and it also has a great cast.

There is too much about the intricacies of gambling for it to be funny and it's too light to be interesting.

When you have a lead character you want to shake and tell to grow up even a stella cast and great acting by the supports isn't going to lead to much more than. Okay.

Lay the Favorite is a story based on the memoir written by Beth Raymer which tracks her rise from a Las Vegas cocktail waitress and Florida stripper to one of the best sports gamblers in the nation. It's not really a comedy, but it's very upbeat and fast paced and it never gets bogged down with drama.
