Lady Bloodfight (2016)

Jane is a beautiful but troubled American girl backpacking through Japan, when her raw street fighting skills draw the attention of Oshima, Japanese karate champion, who recruits and trains her to fight in the vicious, all-female, underground martial arts tournament known as "The Kumite". After months of rigorous preparation, Jane is ready to face off against the deadliest female fighters in the world, including Ling, the Chinese apprentice of Oshima's nemesis. But other nefarious forces lie in the shadows, and Jane and Ling will have to unite on a journey that will take them from the gritty underworld of Hong Kong to the glitz of Macao, before deciding who really is the best female fighter on the planet.

***Spoiler Alert*** If you're into any fighting flicks, this is the movie for you. I personally love the blood and the movie showing that getting hit actually hurts. My only gripe is that the Kathy Wu character was supposed to be so revenge driven against Shu I wish she made her student more brutal than the Russian fighter, so once Amy Johnston's character beat the Russian, the fight against her student was anti-climatic...So I deducted a star for that...

Why? Bloodsport was a great movie. I dont know why we have to make one with girls with a really dumb plot and not good fighting. The big Russian lady is the only person I believe.

I don't care what other people say, but I really loved this movie. This really fulfilled my dreams of seeing real, bad ass women in a martial arts film that really showed off their styles. I think Jane fulfilled a lot of women's secret dreams when she beat the crap out of the pigs at the beginning.

I saw this on Netflix and after viewing it, I wish it was more of a tv series than anything. So many characters but little to no background. The fight scenes are worth watching for but the story for the rival was lacking substance. There was not enough heart to really feeling for the main character and her rival.
