It is great to see a low budget version of a great film. Michael Mann's 1995 masterpiece Heat was actually conceived way back in the 80s by the director Michael Mann. He decided to make it then with the limited budget he had. The scenes and even dialogues are verbatim but it is great to see what a bigger budget can get- from better thespians of the class of Pacino and Deniro to some amazing locations. This is a good film for film students to sit and analyze.(A curiosity sake film if you loved Heat).

TV movie/failed pilot by Michael Mann later remade with exacting similarity as "Heat". Interesting to see artificial the sharp-edged procedural style stripped of the dramatic expansiveness applied to its prestige picture remake.

I've had this DVD sitting around for a couple of years now and never watched it until now. It's pretty much Mann's precursor to Heat, unfortunately it has that certain feel you get with made-for-television movies. I was surprised to see Michael Rooker in it.

This is my new #1 reason why remakes are a GOOD THING!!! Holy God. What if Heat was Miami Vice the show? This. Starring Adam Sandler and Jean Claude Van Damme. Make it go away Movie God... Make the pain stop. I feel so bad for Mann and I am happy as punch that he later got a REAL budget to make his VERSION as intended.

A slice of 80's gold. Classic 80's guitar rifts!! so much better than Heat
