This is deliberate. The film is by design a mood piece. It is even relaxing in parts, making it a good film to 'wind down' to with your partner in the evening. Xan understands that relationships, even in a vampire flick, are more interesting than blood and screaming. But she is even more into the 'feel' of the movie. Viewers raised on the Texas chainsaw massacre remakes and their ilk might not want 'relationships' or 'feel'. If you can understand these things before you watch it, you should enjoy the movie.

I know some of us are already sick of vampires, but Kiss of the Damned is a gorgeous, kinky homage to 70s Italian horror movies. Flawed, for sure, but sexy, atmospheric, and fun.

This could have been a really great vampire movie, if it wasn't for the fact that the filmmaker seems to be fixated on the style of the 70s french erotic vampire films. At the time it was a new approach, but with the like of True Blood, now all looks quite dated. Which is a shame as the underlying story of the vampire lovers trying to forge a "normal" life is for the most part quite well done. And there are glimpses of how terrifying they really can be as a couple stranded by the road are hunted down. Overall OK but you wish the director had enough self-belief to do something of their own rather than falling back on 40 year old cliches

Found 'Kiss of the Damned' subtle, sexy & savage (at all the right points) with mood somewhat like 'We Are The Night' (Wir sind die Nacht)

With it's feminist approach , Kiss Of The Damned is a genuinely sexy, ferociously violent, darkly comic, and deliciously entertaining vampire tale. And in the wake of the atrocious Twilight Saga, it all but revamps and reignites the Vampire genre. Vampires are sexy again.
