When Singapore surrendered to the Japanese in 1942, the Allied POWs, mostly British but including a few Americans, were incarcerated in Changi prison. Among the American prisoners is Cpl. King, a wheeler-dealer who has managed to establish a pretty good life for himself in the camp. King soon forms a friendship with an upper-class British officer who is fascinated with King's enthusiastic approach to life.

George Seagal's greatest role as the KING of a war camp!

This film is about how people can change and are affected by sudden misfortune and how people cope. Class and rank are irrelevant in a POW camp and only the strong of will have the ability to pull through.

Good POW film that doesn't make you forget the Bridge on the River Kwai or any of the other prison films that William Holden pops up in but it nonetheless is interesting to see the story of a survivor and the choices that he makes with his fellow Brits and the Japanese that keep him locked up.

I like the book better than the movie, but the movie is not bad at all, the problem is that they had cut off some of the scenes from the book, well, not the most important ones, but still it feels like something is missing, anyway, I vote four stars for that movie, because of the great cast and the amazing story.
