If we take a step back, we can see the faint outlines of another, more urgent, narrative thread in Kaepernick & America — one that encourages an all too rare kind of integrity and commitment to creating a more just world.

For a movie that doesn’t have an actual interview with the subject of the film, Kaepernick & America isn’t half bad, although the material they have to work with is so thin the co-directors had to pad out their movie with one of the strangest tricks I’ve ever seen in a documentary.

Even if it’s all a bit too tidy, this documentary about Kaepernick is valuable for reminding viewers how far we still have to go.

The verbal analysis here isn’t always profound — one interviewee trots out the banal phrase “the conversation we should be having” — but the narrative as presented in archival footage (Kaepernick did not sit for an interview for this film) is exemplary.

The fuxking nerve of this spoiled, petulant **** thinking he's worth a documentary is off-putting enough. Sorry you couldn't enjoy getting paid millions for playing a game you love. I'm fine with celebrities using their fame for a good cause, but he could have made his point much better. Kneeling during the anthem was just a showy, prima dona move that was lazy and disingenuous. But hey, he got a shoe deal out of it. Weak sauce from a mediocre QB. Go play basketball if you want that ki d of pouty fame. NFL is better off without **** like him.
