A slow moving drama. It is based on a true story. Watchable if you have the patience.

Martine McCutcheon's part was not long enough. So subtract 3 stars.

Terrifying psychological film based partly on a true story in which later-to-be-famous photog Philippe Alsman is accused of killing his father. He soon finds himself up against public opinion and piles of increasingly unusual evidence. The first 30 minutes went too slow, but still an interesting story - picks up toward the end. Worth a visit if you're into courtroom drama.

A movie focusing on the trial of Philippe Halsman, accussed of killing his father. In September 1928, Halsman went on a hiking tour in the Austrian Alps with his father. During this tour, his father dies. The circumstances were never completely clarified, Halsman was sentenced to imprisonment for patricide. The case provoked anti-Jewish propaganda and thus gained international publicity, and Albert Einstein and Thomas Mann wrote in support of Halsman. Halsman was finally released in 1931,he left Austria and became a celebrity potographer, working with Alfred Hitchcock, Judy Garland, Winston Churchill, Marilyn Monroe, Pablo Picasso and even John Kennedy. Many of his photos appeared on the cover of Life Magazine. Although the movie only relates to the trial, the title Jump is referring to Philippe Halsman view of photography (jump photography, called also "jumpology", which can be seen in the last movie scene: "When you ask a person to jump, his attention is mostly directed toward the act of jumping and the mask falls so that the real person appears.

I thought it was very well made. Of course, it could've been better in some parts, but Stefanie Powers made it all up for me.
