Powerful, poignant, and visually stunning, Zhang Yimou's Ju Dou was deservedly nominated for the Best Foreign Language Oscar.

Zhang Yimou's films are always rich with color and great characters. I enjoyed this movie for the story more than anything, although the quality of the DVD I saw it on was very poor...I didn't even notice anymore 5 minutes into the film.

Another controversial collaboration between Yimou and Li. Banned in China, this sensual and eloquent film helped introduced me to Asian cinema. The colors are staggeringly beautiful.

very sexy. Yimou manages to explore the dangerous territory of passion that explodes in a dramatic, tragic climax.

the DVD skipped so i didn't get far into it.. but it seems good...it's frustrating.
