I came across this the other night. The parallels to the Vietnam war are so obvious here. It's a pretty by-the-numbers western with stock characters and phoney settings. It's hilarious just to see a young Harrison Ford and Jan-Michael Vincent as part of Caan's "soldiers".

Ponderous western starts out well but loses it's way at about the halfway point. Much of the fault lies in the direction since the cast are all able players. James Caan's wig is so obviously fake that it becomes incredibly distracting. Still interesting for the cast including a young Harrison Ford.

Si se quiere ver a James Caan en una extraÃ±a faceta de vaquero, entonces hay que verlo en Journey to Shiloh (1969). Con botas, chaleco, sombrero y una no muy favorecedora melena, James Caan es el lÃder de un grupo de amigos texanos, dispuestos a enrolarse como soldados durante la Guerra Civil. Harrison Ford lo acompaÃ±a, en uno de sus primeros papeles en cine de su Ã (C)poca âpre-Han-Soloâ?. Su jornada los lleva por distintas aventuras, en la que descubrirÃ¡n tanto la crudeza de la esclavitud como la discriminaciÃ³n social. Ah, claro, y el amor, al menos nada mÃ¡s para Buck (James Caan), cuando lleve a cabo el romÃ¡ntico deber de defender a una bella camarera en un casino, nada menos que de unos soldados confederados. Y serÃ¡ bien recompensado por ello.

The film seems fairly good, but it gets boring after a while. Vincent is rather good in the movie. His performance was better than the rest.
