Island of Lost Souls (2007)

14-year-old Lulu moves to a small provincial town with her mother and younger brother. Fun to watch at least. Nice special effects for an European production.

Top production value for a danish film. Fine story. It was basically just a bunch of scenes from E.T, Poltergeist and Indiana Jones, rewritten with danish dialouge and put into a film. But it was done tastefully, and no harm in stealing from the best, in fact we need more "Spielberg" films in Scandinavia! A shame about the acting though, it's like danes can't take themselves seriously when they do this kind of film, so they weren't that enthusiastic to watch. But nice try let's get more of this, but for grown-ups!

IS A COOL MOVIE EVEN IF IT'S FROM GERMANY OR FILAND

For Danish standards this is incredibly well made with some nice fantasy elements. The child actors are surprisingly good and the special effects are spot on. A very international effort though it pales compared to film like Harry Potter.
