Invitation to a Gunfighter is a decent film. It is about a Confederate veteran who returns home in New Mexico to find his fiancée married to a Union soldier. Yul Brynner and George Segal give good performances. The screenplay is a little slow in places. Richard Wilson did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the romance and action.

This is a strong western with Bryner as solid as ever with a gun in his hand. Even though all the expected western themes are apparent, it does have a better than average plot.

7.5 out of 10 stars. There is something about the on screen charisma of Yul Brynner. He does well in the role. This was a good western flick. You are held to the movie by the story and the acting. CLASSIC

In many ways, this feels like a made-for-television movie...if not for the strong performances of both Yul Brynner and Pat Hingle - it still could have done with some more action scenes though!
