You can't judge this movie the same way you judge others. The story is a little weird, acting isn't great, but they cast real surfers because they didn't want the cheesy shots like Kate Bosworth in Blue Crush and they wanted to show more of a spiritual side of the sport. The performance by the surfers as actors can be put aside because it comes from the right place and the surfing footage is excellent. It is no Step Into Liquid but it is a great addition to the DVD library.

Some of the plot is a little overdone/overdramatic but it's a nice story and shows some great surfing. The reaction that I have seen from surfers is that it portrays them as being something that they are not. As a surfer myself, I see their point but I don't feel that there is a message aimed at me. The reason why this movie is so generally appealing is that it is really a movie about youthful abandon and following your dreams, and that is something that everyone can identify with.

Ha ha one of my fave movies of all time, Keoni is one of my fave characters in this movie, WATCH IT, LOVE IT, LIVE IT.

This movie is awsome and crazy, Big wave rideing is where it's at. Also love the ending with that cool country song, Can't find this movie any where!
