Imagining Argentina (2003)

Set during the unsettling disappearances in Buenos Aires during the dictatorship of the 1970s, the film involves theater director Carlos Rueda and his wife Cecilia. Shortly after Cecilia writes an editorial commentary questioning the mysterious abductions, she is herself abducted and taken into police custody.

It's fiction.... but it's not. The weakness lies in the potential offered by the choice of the 'happy' ending, when the general message was of horror, REAL Horror which Really Happened. But plusplus performances and photography. Outstanding Emma Thomson!

Intriguing choice of a plot. Sadly, the backbone to this film is one of the cruelest realities of Latin America. At instances very moving and quite crude, the story combines magical realism with dire horror quite well.
