The kids are marvelous without becoming cloying or cute and for a film with so little conflict, it is completely involving, wonderfully warm and full of natural humor.

A story talking about how kids are influenced by their family. This movie is a bit bored, compared Hirokazu Koreeda's previous movies. The story is fine but can be more interesting.

Feel it lost the main storyline. Just want to show some plain history without highlight.

Koreeda's compositions have a sympathetic detachment that Americans rarely value but is, for many Japanese, the whole point of art. That means you can contemplate the wonder in these glowing young faces without feeling as if you're on an intravenous drip of corn syrup.

You watch it remembering the days when you should have walked but simply had to run, and when you believed that, if you wished hard enough, your dead pet just might come back again.
