Following the lackluster launch of her debut novel, 35-year-old writer Kate Conklin receives an invitation from her former professor and old crush to speak at her alma mater. With her book tour canceled and her ego deflated, Kate takes the trip, hoping it will give her the morale boost she sorely needs. Instead, she falls into a comical regression—from misadventures with eccentric 20-year-olds to feelings of jealousy toward her former professor's new favorite student.

With modesty, precision and wry compassion, I Used to Go Here limns human nature at its most contradictory and indefinable, offering a textbook example — at least until the right German word comes along.

Boring, sadly, just boredom oozing from every pore. A comedy? Where are the jokes? Drama? Nothing happens......I waited for Jermaine Clement to give a quirky lift, but even he seemed stuck in this maudlin affair. I prayed for some nostalgic part of the soundtrack to reach out and grab me, but it never happened, nothing happened....

A brilliantly honest performance by Gillian Jacobs and a supporting cast. They bring such a believability to their roles. If you look at the t-shirt Gillian's character acquires halfway through the movie that says "The future begins here" then you get a feeling for the lesson this movie is imparting.
