This movie is one of the best I've seen in a long time. Whether you're religious or not, it has many biblical references, especially since the main character's name is Ruth. Her character starts off at her lowest point, apathetic and deeply depressed about life and how terrible people are to one another. Despite taking her anti-depressants, she finds herself in this zombie like state of feeling nothing. But something happens to her that sets her on a quest to make the world right again. Someone steals from her, and when she goes to confront them, she finds herself in the face of true evil. Through the darkness in which she endures, she develops faith once again in herself, in her connection to her friend (Elijah Wood), and spiritually with God, humanity, the universe, or whatever you want to call it.

Loved it. Off-beat, but real. A little too much violence, but it's tolerable. More about the feels than the violence.

Lynskey’s shivering rage and Wood’s Zen incompetence play off beautifully against each other, and Blair deftly juggles the suspense, humor and social overtones of his script. Until, that is, the film’s final 30 or 40 minutes, when he settles for genre schlock and the revelatory film we thought we were watching devolves into a less interesting, more familiar one.

Films that juxtapose violence with comedy are tough sells in many cases, but "I Don't Feel," is a special film that deserves its place in the crime comedy genre.

Great dark comedy written and directed by Macon Blair. This was his directorial debut and he also played a small role as well. His directing style is a little similar to Jeremy Saulnier who he worked with in the movie Blue Ruin. Larkin Seiple did an excellent job with the cinematography, his indie style high contrast shots throughout the movie set the tone perfectly. It was well written and directed with no unnecessary or extra long scenes. The characters were strange and awkward but in a good way. Melanie Lynskey and Elijah Wood were funny and perfectly weird. The supporting cast were good too. The whole movie was captivating and wasn't too long. The violence was good and only a little gruesome. Definitely one of the best dark comedies I've seen in awhile.
