Growing up in Greenville, Texas, Bart Millard suffers physical and emotional abuse at the hands of his father, Arthur. When Arthur becomes terminally ill, he finds redemption by embracing his faith and rediscovering his love for his son. Years later, Bart's troubled childhood and mended relationship with his dad inspires him to write the hit song "I Can Only Imagine" as singer of the Christian band MercyMe.

Fantastic story. Great acting. I have always enjoyed Dennis Quaid and I thought his part was amazingly done. Thank you MercyMe for doing this project! Sharing this story will touch many more millions who need to hear the great news!

It's really sad to see the critic reviews of this movie. Then again, critics probably have very little use for the subject matter, the redemptive power of God. The film is tremendously made, finely acted, powerfully moving. The entire audience was in tears for most of the last 30 minutes of the movie. It will continue to create a buzz and has already outperformed the most optimistic estimates of its' box office opening weekend. Do yourself a favor and go see the film. It just might hit you in the heart...unless you're a jaded, snobby film critic, that is!

We all can use a feel good movie these days. This movie outlines how a person can overcome their past and have a bright future. Very inspirational.

This is one of the best movies I have ever seen, I don't care if it has religious themes, it does a damn good job of making me think about my life, and it made me cry A LOT, so if you're one of the people on here that gave it a bad rating because it has religious elements, you can go to hell
