This movie sits exactly where it deserves, at a 0%. While some of it is well executed, the story meanders and has nothing to say or do. The (more or less) quality actors are squandered as the movie waits around for something to happen. It all 'builds' to what I feared most--an on the nose and (honestly lazy and offensive) "monster" to see kill things then die. The movie also is continuously distracted by a need to sexualize everything -- camera angles, character decisions...this movie is a real shame.

If you liked American Gothic and haven't seen Humongous, I suggest checking it out, same applies if you've seen Humongous and liked it but haven't seen American Gothic, vice versa, etc, etc. There were quite a few similarities but different enough to be it's own movie and enjoyable. Humongous almost reminded me of a Richard Laymon novel, that is, of course, if the son living in the basement on the island was also a perverted rapist.

A wonderful mixture of monster movie mayhem and teenage slash and stalk fare. Beautifully atmospheric and genuinely creepy, this would make an excellent double bill with Paul Lynch's other 80's masterpiece, "Prom Night!"

Canadian production about a group of shipwrecked teens on an island inhabited only by a large, mutated person who either sounds like he has emphysema or growls like a dog. Alright but could have been better.
